Master Pattern Indicator for TradingView: What Indicator X Shows on Your Chart

A walkthrough of what Indicator X draws on a TradingView chart: three contraction logics, value lines, liquidity lines, and Minor, Major and Origin boxes.

Indicator X is a TradingView indicator built around the Master Pattern framework. Instead of drawing every contraction box and value line by hand, it marks them for you across the timeframes you choose. Here is what it puts on your chart.

The Four Components

  1. 1.2 Bar Master Pattern: based on a single inside bar contraction.
  2. 2.3 Bar Master Pattern: based on a double inside bar contraction.
  3. 3.Multi-Bar Master Pattern: based on higher lows and lower highs across multiple candles. This is the one that tiers boxes as Minor, Major or Origin.
  4. 4.HH/LL liquidity lines: marks swing highs and lows where stop losses tend to sit, until price touches them.

Contraction Boxes and Value Lines

When a contraction forms, the indicator draws a box around it. After price breaks out, it extends a line from the center of the box: the value line. You can set value lines to extend to current price or until the next value line.

Minor, Major and Origin Boxes

On the multi-bar logic, boxes are tiered by how many sides price has broken. Minor means one side, Major means both sides, and Origin means three or more. This tells you which contractions are worth your attention without you counting breakouts by hand.

The Master Pattern Box You're Missing

Multi-Timeframe Support

All three contraction logics have a multi-timeframe option. That lets you show a higher timeframe value line on a lower timeframe chart, which is how you set bias on the higher timeframe and look for entries on the lower one.

Settings You Can Change

  • →Value line extension: to current price, or until the next value line.
  • →Max bars back: how far back in time boxes are drawn.
  • →Swing size on the multi-bar logic: bigger or smaller swings.
  • →Liquidity lines on or off, with bigger or smaller swing sizes.

How It Fits a Trading Plan

Indicator X maps the structure. It does not make the decision for you. A simple workflow is to set bias from the higher timeframe value line, wait for a Major box on your entry timeframe, and look for entries around its value line. You can combine it with moving averages or other tools you already use.
